ABOUT US

Amie and Jenn have been providing services and training for years and now make their expertise available to you.

In 2022, Jennifer and Amie co-founded re:birth. A place where people could find curated materials, resources, and services that help them navigate the fertility journey, pregnancy and their expanding family’s needs. Information and education are the keys re:birth provides, ensuring people feel confident in their journey from start to finish. This allows you to make the decisions that are right for you, your family and your baby.

Amie is a life long learner who has always been driven to help others. Following an undergraduate degree in Psychology Amie turned her attention to health related fields. She became a doula in 2011, a path that became clear to her following the births of her older two children. Amie experienced high risk pregnancy, complicated birth experiences, birth trauma, and feeding disruptions. These experiences drove her to pursue a field where she could encourage and enrich the parenting journey for others. She knew there was a better way to step into new parenthood, and that having someone alongside you armed with experience, knowledge, and open hearted compassion could make all the difference.

Since 2011 Amie has deepened her knowledge and skills through training and certification geared towards supporting people from the time of pregnancy through their first forays into parenting. She is a certified birth doula, a Certified Lactation Counselor, a certified babywearing educator, trained postpartum doula, trained lactation educator, and childbirth educator. She has also taken workshops and classes on pelvic floor health, waterbirth, birth trauma, trauma informed care, inclusivity, and a number of business courses.

Amie is also completing a professional diploma program in Acupuncture. In part her education covers a Traditional Chinese Medicine approach to women’s health, pregnancy, and the power of food to aid the body in healing and wellness.

Amie has owned both a successful solo doula business, and since 2015 a successful doula agency. A number of new doulas have taken their first steps into birth and postpartum work under her tutelage and mentorship.

Jennifer has spent the last decade of her life working as a DONA certified birth doula, a holistic nutritionist and a holistic reproductive health practitioner and fertility awareness educator. She was drawn to birth work after the birth of her first son in 2003. Like many doulas, the desire to empower others through pregnancy, the birth process and postpartum stems from a lack of choices in her own experience. Because she felt unprepared for the birth process, she became passionate about educating and supporting expectant couples.

Along with a very painful and personal health journey, Jennifer fought through a difficult diagnosis of endometriosis, learning how vital nutrition was in healing her body and realizing that she needed to act as a staunch supporter of reproductive rights. Jennifer’s mission is centered on the power of knowledge, supporting client families, couples and individuals alike, through the reproductive health spectrum using a holistic approach that is unique to each person’s needs.

Jennifer has taken her substantial education across the 3 modalities and significant experience as a doula to now focus on educating expecting and soon-to-be expecting parents, using evidence-based materials in a judgement and bias free way. Your choices matter and ensuring you understand how to make choices and communicate your preferences in your pregnancy is the priority.
